What is depression?

Depression is a mental state characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a despondent lack of activity. Common are feelings of sadness, despair, anxiety, emptiness, hopelessness, helplessness, loss of energy, and difficulty dealing with normal daily life.

Depression is an illness that seems to be more common in today’s world than in the past. I don’t know if that is, because there are more medicine available to treat it. That will raise the question are those medicine properly tested for possible side effects or not? I have past life, where doctors could have recommended description drugs many times, if only I went to see them. I didn’t.

There are two ways to treat the depression. Taking description drugs (and so doing introducing new ailments as side effects) Trying to find the root of the problem and either eliminating it or minimising the effect of it! It takes a lot of hard work and often soul searching to go to one’s inner mind to discover the reason. It needs absolute honesty to your self for start and in case of someone else trying to help also need to know the facts. I do take temporarily sedatives to get past the most difficult times. “The peaks” I would call them! Other times I am doing the eliminations of the reason. The reason is often known if one honestly looks life around you. I don’t mean to go and start blaming everybody else for you depression.

The reason is within your self. For some reason we sufferers have lost the clear picture of future in our mind and that make us to feel very insecure and we start panicking. That is one path to depression. There are mental illnesses that needs to be treated and obviously needs medical help. I have had many reasons to start continuous description drug treatment for my condition. So far I have refused, knowing that once I start I may be doing the same rest of my life!
