Metoprolol is a selective beta1 receptor blocker used in treating hypertension, angina, heart arrhythmias, and acute myocardial infarction. Use of metoprolol has been associated with a number of adverse side effects, including depression, sedation, as well as exacerbation of congestive heart failure.
